DOMINATION 3 FEEDBACK

Post by THEHopper »

Hey everyone,

I thought I would go ahead and post this with the show dropping later today.

Please leave some form of feedback....it helps make the league better, and honestly it helps motivate if we know people are reading and reacting to the work that is put in. This is easily the best way to encourage the others in the league.

Feedback on show 3 is welcome in all formats, but here are some prompts for you if you aren't sure:

STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS VERSION:

The early segments all do a good job of setting up their respective storylines - yes, even the super-short ones. In fact, that shortest one of all has me actively intrigued about who the lady is and what her plans are for VIP. Reyn going to FREDDIE'S HOME to threaten him was a great way to kick off the show - even if the first sentence and location of the opening segments in the first two shows did force me to double-check that I was in the right link.

Malta vs Dream: Here is an opener which feels like a main event. Love the 60s-Batman-show comic-book sound effects. While the result is never in doubt, both men look amazing and conform to their respective roles adequately - right down to the finish, a great usage of a ref bump. Danny does not look all that good coming out of this one, but he IS the 'Chosen One', and is not going anywhere. He might as well change his name to Roman at this point - though that might be anti-American...

Another strong batch of segments. I continue to love Amber and Alfie's interactions, and I feel the men in the next two segments would get on VERY well. In fact, ol' John J. may well patronise Kronk's gun shop, to see if he has something suitable for shooting up aliens in the Orion Nebula...

Darren Best vs LSD: OH YEAH FACE VS FACE MATCH!!! LET'S F---ING GOOOOO! The ego-wanking for Darring is real from the announce table. Ref counts change from numbers to words halfway through, and then from lowercase to uppercase, and back again - not a big deal, but somebody should have probably picked up on it. A technical masterpiece as expected, but could you shut up for two seconds, Lucas? Inside jokes about dodgy spacing only work if the spacing is actually dodgy...Also, I feel this sort of jokey write-up does not belong in serious matches like this. Otherwise, fantastic match, with (again) a predictable winner, but which makes the loser look amazing in defeat.

First of two interconnected segments from me up next, and I hope this one is as fun to read as it was to write. It features the return of two of my favourite people from my roster, wnich I am ecstatic about going forward. Say a prayer for Davey-Boy, though...

GREAT heel segment by John here. Bianca and Alecz are definitely either going to argue about who gets the private announcer gimmick, or get along like gangbusters.

The Survival of the Fittest continues in another fun segment, though I preferred their first interaction.

Alecz vs Steve Dann: HERE he is! I was wondering when we would see him! Wait, is Steve Dann from LA or Shreveport? Or is this another oversight? Oh, I see, LA meant Louisiana and not Los Angeles... You might want to be careful with that in an LA (that is, Los Angeles) based fed... Anyway, GREAT job turning what was expected to be a glorified jobber squash into a legitimate and legitimately exciting HOSS FIGHT! Again, the outcome was never in question, but like a good fairground attraction, it's the ride that matters - and this was another damn fun ride! Big whiff of Rick Rude about Alecz - a heel who thinks the world of himself, but who is also a legitimate contender in the ring.

We apparently entered a time hole and landed in the 1950s, judging by that ad. LEEEEET'S DOOOO, THE TIIIIIME WAAAARP, AGAAAAAIN!
(PS: I know exactly what numbers the husband's boss wants. Hashtag sales and marketing job.)

Heeeey, it's Lexi D.'s favourite announcer. And it's TWO! MINUUUUTES! TO MIIIIID---day?! Well, that was anti-climactic! :/

The next segment starts, and I get the feeling Scott may have been right with his prediction of this one stealing the show (even though I know what is coming further down, from myself and another handler.) BIG whiff of Tarantino about those first few paragraphs. Then...the interview starts. And while I do want to know what Crusader's deal is, it's all a bit dry compared to that first third. X makes some good points, but he needs a more distinctive 'voice', I feel. Still, a good segment, which makes me want to use one of MY people to challenge X, so...mission (somewhat) accomplished, I suppose.

Amber Button vs The Players: I love Kid Chameleon's gimmick! Awww, they have joint music now. This 'ship has just gone CANON! See, THIS is an example where the tongue-in-cheek narration works. Mainly because it's a midcard tag match between goofy characters (in the BEST possible sense, mind you!) and not the e-wrestling version of Bob Backlund vs Paul Orndorff. It matches the TONE, see... Speaking of tone, great way to usher wrestling into the digital age without needing to hashtag Join The Conversa---YES! SNOGGING HAS OCCURRED! GO ALFIE, IT'S YA BIRTHDAY, IT'S YA BIRTHDAY, IT'S YA BIRTHDAY! Great big-woman work from Amber, makes me want to go re-open GPW only to put her in the G.O.D. stable with the other big girls. Overall, fun glorified jobber squash that did its job of selling the team of Amber Button, while also entertaining the reader/viewer with the Twitch gimmick and Alfie and Kid's personalities. Also, SNOGGING!

I don't have much experience of cryptobros (wrong generation) but E Z Rah seems spot-on from what I know. Probably my second favourite character in GLOBAL right now, after The Gilded Great.

HAH! Health Fanatics got those Prime Time Jerks back! Though I now want to see this escalate so they keep arriving to the gym earlier and earlier until they literally arrive the afternoon before just for bragging rights.

...uh, there was supposed to be a segment here. Uh-oh, does segment misplacement rear its ugly head again?

Crap match. Whoever wrote this had NO IDEA what they were doing! :p :p

Awww, she went to see her opponent in the Local Medical Facility, and brought him flowers! HAH, yeah right, Jed, did you just pull that argument directly out of your hospital gown? Great face/heel dynamic here, I want to see Jed get MCMAP stretched to oblivion.

Uh-oh...trouble in paradise...

...Wait, it wasn't the segments that were misplaced. It appears to have been the match that was put on too early. It should be Angel segment 1/match/another segment/Angel segment 2, and all the other segments are in their correct places, so it appears two matches were just swapped around. So now Angel is not headed for her debut as all, as that has happened, and her behaviour in the second seg makes no sense anymore either, seeing as she's happy here, and angry afterwards.

Big Aug v Gemini: HOSS FIGHT II - Suplex Boogaloo! Big Aug spamming specials like he's Bill Golberg in a 2k video game. Not much more to say, another very entertaining match, some good character work from both men, and then the expected litany of powerhouse offence from either side...wait a minute...

...OH SHIT NOT A HEEL INTERRUPTION!

'Whatever Aleczander The Great is trying to do, it’s no doubt he’s out here for something involving Aleczander The Great.' No shit, Allie. Involuntary Line of the Night right there. Oooh, interesting challenge setup here, as Alecz goes from Rick Rude to Dino Bravo.

...um, EWWWWWWWW.

Oh, look. From the 1950's, we have now time-travelled to the 1980s. I hope Wall tested negative.

...yyyyup. As expected. Big ol' early 90s-style jobber squash. Move along, people, nothing to see here.
(PS This is how I would write it, too.)

...aaand here it is, the most fun I've had writing a segment in a long while (or at least since the last Angel segment I wrote.) I hope people enjoy what the Portuguese Pedros tag team came up with here.

Another segment that suffers from being misplaced. Just a little coda to Angel's mini-arc this show.

Hey, how come this gets its own banner?! Oh, it's another interview seg---HOLY SHIT WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!

VIP v Reyn:WHAT AN ENTRANCE for Reyn! I feel like I can see and hear this moment in my head as part of a real wrestling show - camera angles and all. ...oh. Oh, shit. You done goofed, VIP. This whole match feels like a monster-movie segment, where we know Price is doomed, but by gum is he trying to stave off the beast. WHOA!! ALEX REYN used BITE! It's super effective! See, this is where extra spacing really work---WHOA DID ALEX JUST BREAK VIP's FINGERS?! Whoa, I hope Alex Reyn changes his entrance theme to 'How I Could Just Kill A Man', because, well... WOW. 2017?! Talk about holding a grudge! ...is...is he...? Anyway, FANTASTIC match! Visceral and legitimately disturbing prop fight. Match of the night, hands down. And now EVERYONE has a monster running around on the loose to worry about. This just got REAL, people.

WHOA, talk about mood whiplash! Poor Rah, he never knew what he would be immediately preceded by.... I bet he regrets asking for that slot now... Good segment regardless. E Z finally puts his money where his big mouth is, and this feels 'Bryan Pillman with a gun' real. You could see Logan Paul doing something like this to somebody he was beefing with, is what I'm saying. HEY! You leave that bass ALONE, Rah! Smash a guitar if you have to!! NOW Security appears? And they DON'T beat the crap out of Rah?! Remind me never to go to this club.

HOLY SHIT, I got my wish. THEY NEVER LEFT! Chef's kiss, gentlemen. More Batman WHAM! POW! sound effects as a brawl breaks out, and - again - things escalate from humorous to real.

Here's Jeremy's advertisement, that I and some other people pitched into. This league is cool, people. You should check it out.

HERE he is. I was wondering when we would see everyone's favourite Patrick Bateman expy. Though he is more of an Alex DeLarge here. Film and literature references for dayyyssss!! Whoa. That is HEAVY from Manny. DEFINITE whiff of Patrick Bateman to the end of this.

Short but sweet and to the point from the assortment of Riches. Gets in, does its job, gets out. Not much to say.

MAIN EVENT: OK, so I had read this match in advance and felt it was a bit short, and more of an angle than a match. I still feel that way, and now it's on the same show as VIP vs Reyn. So as Vince McMahon's music would put it, it had 'NO CHANCE IN HELL!'

TL;DR AKA FINAL THOUGHTS: WHAT. A. SHOW! This is in completely another UNIVERSE from the first two shows, and (placement quirks and the occasional typo aside) insanely strong from top to bottom. It really elevates GLOBAL and the 'TV show' surrounding it, and makes it feel like a BIG deal.

On the less gushy side, we REALLY need to pay attention to seg placement, as it actively hinders what handlers are going for. Also, I continue to feel as though the off-site segments should all come before the on-site ones. Maybe on the sign-up sheets, people who want on-site segments could try and aim for the later ones, leaving the early goings for the off-site and flashback people? I know I will adopt this strategy. It just makes the show flow better, and more like a real media product. Think of the way a film is structured: once the Navy SEAL gets to the terrorist lair, or the ragtag team of misfits finally gels as a unit, they don't go back in time. EVER. The SEAL just beats up bad guys, and the kids just beat other teams on the way to the inevitable big heel/face confrontation for the State title, or whatever. In my opinion, GLOBAL needs to be structured more like that. Again, though, it's just MY opinion.

In general, however, AMAZING work top to bottom from everyone involved. SCW, eat your heart out!
9/10, maybe even 9.5.

TL;DR Version

BEST MATCH: It WAS the opener...until that brutality Alex Reyn perpetrated on VIP.
BEST SEGMENT: Hard to choose one. Amazing stuff top to bottom here.
BEST ANGLE: Rah vs JD, Survival of the Fittest, Alex Reyn running wild on everybody, blackmail angle involving a backstage interviewer? SNOGGING? Again, so many to choose from!
BEST LINE OF THE NIGHT: That flub in the Alecz/Aug match. Unintentional comedy at its finest.

RENT IS DUE: This is a fun way to start the show. We had the arrival of Alex Reyn, and he told the Rich Family the rent was due. I like Reyn and the Rich Family, so this intrigues me. A good way to start the show.

THE GAME IS AFOOT - KIND OF: I am not usually a fan of “Boss” storylines, it’s been way overdone, but these board meetings and interactions intrigued me. I am curious to see where this eventually leads - Will there be a civil war on the board? So far, it’s been pretty civil.

TALK ABOUT A PRICE CHANGE: Interesting little segment. VIP vs Alex Reyn is set up, perhaps.

DANIEL DREAM VS SON OF MALTA: I wrote this match, so I won’t review it. However, I wanted to say I really enjoyed writing both characters. This was the first time I wrote a match in this style, so I hope it didn’t flop that hard.

I'LL DO MY BEST: A good promo by Darren Best. Sets up a respectful match-up between two of GLOBAL’s top faces.

HOLD ON, PLAYERS: A tag team match is set up for later as we continue to build the partnership between Alfie and Amber. Good segment work that will give us more later on. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

SPACE ODDITY: That was interesting. I was lost a bit and had to read it a few times. Angle work is very well done. Even if I don’t know everything going on here, I look forward to seeing how this unfolds.

WISHING YOU A HAPPY (AND HEDONISTIC) NEW YEAR: Ummm … What the heck did I just read? Don’t be like Brendan Fraser!

DARREN BEST VS SEAN DARRING MATCH: I checked out after another CWF remark. The match was a well-done affair between two faces. Both guys looked strong throughout, and in the end, the loser wasn’t hurt at all. Face vs. face matches aren’t always that easy to write, but this came across strong, and both men looked good. You can’t ask for anything better except banning all CWF mentions. I must tell Giovanni to make this happen.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: More British blokes on the show The Best of British … GLOBAL has a lot of United Kingdom presence in the fed. Makes you wonder if there is a scouting presence over there. Anyways, good angle work with them and O’Brien as they continue to set up their angle.

ROYAL BALL: I enjoy the Queen and her arrogance. The Queen demands respect, and she gets it from me here. Good stuff! I liked the title here; I usually just overlook them, but I noticed this one.

DRAMA AT THE FIT FACTORY (1): I wrote this, but it’s one of three segments that get things going for the Prime Time Athletes.

ALECZANDER THE GREAT VS “THE FAT MAN” STEVE DANN: As much as I like Aleczander, I still have to root for the fan-favorite - The Fat Man here. I love how it’s sold as one of the biggest physical matches ever in GLOBAL. Hahah.. Oh man, this match is like Yokozunna vs. Earth Quake… Two behemoths were crashing in the ring… Oh wait, it’s over; the Hall of Famer beats our hero. 🙁

ADVERTISEMENT - The Washing Machine: GLOBAL’s advertisement department pulled out a 1950s commercial and decided to run it.

MASK OFF: Man, I loved this segment. Crusader X made an impact with that interview here tonight. He addressed most of the roster and said some harsh but possibly true things. I don’t know. He said we wouldn’t have to wait long to see him debut, and now after this, I am ready!

AMBER LEE AND ALFIE BUTTON VS THE PLAYERS: This was a solid tag team match, a great middle-of-the-show match. I enjoyed the earlier setup for this, and then the match delivered from it, putting Lee and Button over. Well done! Are these two going to make an impact as a tag team going forward or as singles? This will be interesting.

E Z COIN: Okay, at first, the E Z Rah name was annoying; now, after three shows, I am all for it. Lots of douchery to be had, and E Z Coin ranks right up there! I liked it.

DRAMA AT THE FIT FACTORY 2: I know three segments on a show by one team can be too much, but that is why I kept them small… I am sorry!

ANGEL “THE KID” RAMIREZ VS “QUEEN” BIANCA DAVIS MATCH: Okay, I am digging the arrogance and shenanigans here early by the Queen. A Queen can do what she pleases - changing her entrance music or whatever! It was a small complete sell job for the Queen, but I am all for it. We should all line up and be happy to sell for the Queen!

CAN’T KEEP AN OLD DOG DOWN: Some good character work here for Valorie. Quality writing, as always. Another character, I am looking forward to seeing what is next.

LET’S BE REAL: Good interaction between Ross Hanson and Hayley Robinson. It seems like Ross is in a bit of a slump. Does GLOBAL have mental health assistance? I dug the interaction between the two and storytelling. I hope Ross gets the help he needs!

SOCIAL INSIGHTS: Another segment where we get to see more character build as we get to know all these characters and what makes them tick. I liked the interaction between them and the setup—quality stuff.
“BIG AUG” AUGUST LAZAR VS GEMINI MATCH: Big Aug continues to feast on the enhancement talent in GLOBAL. This match seems a lot like last week's match, which isn’t a bad recipe for the big man—just looking forward to seeing him in a different match.

HALL OF FAME STRENGTH: Aleczander is here and wants another test after picking up the Fat Man. I am all in on this match for the next show and feud!

ADVERTISEMENT - YORKSHIRE PUDDING SLIPPERS: The heck?

PUBLIC HUMILIATION IS NIGH: I was at first like, wait, Joe Public is going to get some air time .. Then it made more sense. We have the introduction of The Great Wall, a 7’2 giant. Well, poor Joe Public.

JOE PUBLIC VS THE GREAT WALL MATCH: We already feel pretty sorry for Joe Public. I liked the new record comment that made it seem even more significant. Keeping it one move is probably best

AT THE DOOM’S GATE: We have another future match setup, and you can’t go wrong when that happens. GLOBAL’s tag division is very underrated. A lot of good teams in this division, and this is a good segment.

WELCOME TO CORPORATE AMERICA: A follow-up segment from earlier, and things are coming together.

I DID NOT HAVE RELATIONS WITH THE PRESIDENT: More Tobias, alright! An interview and dive into VIP. I enjoyed my segment on Domination 1 with Tobias, and I liked him here with VIP.

ALEX REYN VS VIP: I wasn’t sure who would go over here. And, there is the Alex Reyn I remember… That is taking up the feud a notch, and it’s played up big that it could be the end of VIP. Really well done here.

VIRAL COMEDY 4: EZ Rah and Jerry David's feud has escalated, and we have a brawl. This is one of GLOBAL’s first feuds that has really led the way for all other rivalries, and I am looking forward to what I expect a big PPV match.

DRAMA AT THE FIT FACTORY 3: And, bummer, if I had known this would follow the above brawl - I would have suggested it to be somewhere else on the show. I am not sure this has the same impact following an altercation right before it. Oh well!

ADVERTISEMENT - Baseball: Interesting relationship between BCNA baseball league and GLOBAL.

PAYBACK: I start the shows these days, looking forward to Pierson’s work. He is a gem to read, and the slow build of the character has been masterful. Pierson is a joy to read and has a unique idea regarding e-wrestling. I can’t wait to see all this character build translate to an actual feud. A+ work as usual from Pierson.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS: Tag Team Royalty, the Rich Family at its finest. They show respect to the champions but remind them how hungry they are. Good match hype work right before the match.

THE MASTER SISTERS VS THE RICH FAMILY MATCH: I felt a bit on the short side for the main event and the hype of the match, but what we saw was top-notch angle work, and that is the important part. The Rich Family wins by DQ, and things were set up for a bigger match down the road in the tag ranks down the road. Well done. I am really enjoying this tag division.

GLOBAL AWARDS: I am trying to figure out what this is. Is it Global Awards for 2022 (2 shows?)

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

The Good: This was the best GLOBAL show (out of the three). You can see characters building and getting a purpose. Rivalries building. Improvement and comfort across the league in general.

- The Queen continues to build into a fun character.
- Aleczander and Big Aug's feud feels like it will be big.
- Alex Reyn made a massive statement on this show.
- Tag Division continues to impress from top to bottom.
- Matches took a step up on this show in general. (Main Event felt like it was a tad overshadowed tho)
- Christian Pierson’s character build is just top-notch writing.

There was some segment placement confusion, at least from my standpoint. I hope we continue to improve on that. Outside of that, I am getting used to this league's style. I have fewer and fewer complaints each show as I get accustomed to the style and expectations.

This show leaves you looking forward to the next show. Great work from everyone in what is a darn good show, top to bottom. An excellent solid 7/10 here?

BEST MATCH: Darren Best vs Sean Darring

What do you get when you let two of the best, pun half-intended, competitors have a technical match with great selling? Well you get the best match.

BEST SEGMENT: MASK Off

This match really develops Crusader X and can potentially kickstart countless possible storylines in just a short interview. Literally one of the best things that could be done with a segment.

BEST ANGLE: Aleczander vs 'Big Aug' August Lazar

I'm going to be honest and say that I didn't 'get' Aleczander or what everyone saw in him. I loved the August Lazar character. (Which is weird because they are handled by the same guy)

I just saw Aleczander as an annoying heel (which is the point) but now the Aleczander-isms of his are growing on me. I can't wait to see what happens next with this test of strength best of three.

BEST LINE OF THE NIGHT: "Wait. So, you think you can defeat these ‘parasites’? You think you can beat veterans like Dream, Johnson, Reyn, Aleczander, Darring-"

A loaded question like that is just dying for potential storylines to answer it, at least five, and I think that line will probably be referenced for months to come.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: I feel like the main event was good but gets overshadowed by Darren Best vs Sean Darring which I consider the best match and Alex Reyn vs VIP which had VIP basically mutilated. Having a good match that ends with a disqualification is just a tad anti-climatic, nothing against the writing but the placing could have been improved which is what this section is about.

DOMINATION 3 FEEDBACK

Post by E Z Rah »

RENT IS DUE: I’m new to Reyn but this seems like a great way to introduce a big player. Good start to the show

THE GAME IS AFOOT - KIND OF: more good world building leading to a lot of intrigue about the title picture. I much prefer small snippets of info here and there like this to whet the appetite.

TALK ABOUT A PRICE CHANGE: More Reyn build up.

DANIEL DREAM VS SON OF MALTA: Really well written match that showcased both guys without anyone being overshadowed.

I'LL DO MY BEST: A good but fairly standard respectful promo. Hopefully it lead to a fire being lit under Darren Best for his next opponent

HOLD ON, PLAYERS: tag set up for later in the night in a pretty interesting way. Amber and Alfie continue to entertain as a duo

SPACE ODDITY: I understood more than I probably should have thanks to my involvement in Wrestleverse (which I always considered non-canon in e-fed world) so looking forward to seeing what crazy gets injected into Global.

WISHING YOU A HAPPY (AND HEDONISTIC) NEW YEAR: I feel a bit violated and yelled at.

DARREN BEST VS SEAN DARRING MATCH: Another good match that showcased both men well. This isn’t just about this match but they are looong at Global for weekly non-main event matches. Probably just me being used to shorter ones in feds I’m in. Might have to book off a weekend when the PPV drops.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Some very likeable and memorable characters all involved here so was a fun read. A bit of a slow burn that could probably do with a bit of editing down though.

ROYAL BALL: More good character work from the Queen here. Looking forward to see how the character evolves and adapts to an environment with other wrestlers disrespecting her.

DRAMA AT THE FIT FACTORY (1): Good start to what will become an ongoing segment through the show. As I stated I have a personal preference when things are set up this way, easier to digest.

ALECZANDER THE GREAT VS “THE FAT MAN” STEVE DANN: Man I pity anyone who has to try and write an Aleczander match in the future. They’re always thoroughly entertaining but have such a unique style to them I can’t imagine it’s easy to replicate. Good stuff here, looking forward to Alec moving onto bigger and better.

MASK OFF: Really enjoyed this one. Not many people have mentioned the rest of roster yet so this definitely made it all feel more connected rather than individual stories. Made me excited for a characters next move as it didn’t beat you over the head with past accomplishments and accolades.

AMBER LEE AND ALFIE BUTTON VS THE PLAYERS: entertaining match that continued to put Lee and Button over as possibly tag title contenders.

E Z COIN: I wrote it so won’t review but I can tell you what I’m going for with E Z. I want it to feel like his segments have just popped up on your YouTube algorithm and you click them out of morbid curiosity. Almost like he’s always just around to the point you forget he’s actually a wrestler.

DRAMA AT THE FIT FACTORY 2: Good time to revisit this, nicely continues this rivalry with passive aggressiveness, looking forward to the escalation.

ANGEL “THE KID” RAMIREZ VS “QUEEN” BIANCA DAVIS MATCH: loved the idea of changing the entrance music. No doubt with who was going to win this one but still entertaining.

CAN’T KEEP AN OLD DOG DOWN: I enjoyed this. Managed to make its point, get on some good character work and do it all pretty succinctly. Good stuff.

LET’S BE REAL: Fun interaction between these two and good storytelling that reveals some interesting information and leaves the reader wanting more.

SOCIAL INSIGHTS: I think this could have benefitted from being a bit shorter but overall I enjoyed this, always fun to see people triggers and their reactions.

BIG AUG MATCH AND HALL OF FAME STRENGTH: Big Aug is always pretty entertaining but the real value here comes from him and Alec getting into a feud. Always interesting to see how people go down the ‘competition’ route rather than straight up match so looking toward to this.

JOE PUBLIC VS THE GREAT WALL MATCH: Starting to feel like there’s bunch of guys trying to out-big man each other. Looking forward to seeing what the Great Wall brings to the table. Justice for Joe Public.

AT THE DOOM’S GATE: Bit of a slow burn but sets up a future match nicely and adds in some good stakes and reasons to keep an eye on this feud.

WELCOME TO CORPORATE AMERICA: An enjoyable follow up to the previous segment. Having an excitable teen dynamic around global makes for a very welcome change. Looking forward to seeing more of these.

I DID NOT HAVE RELATIONS WITH THE PRESIDENT: This was a lot of fun and helped further my opinions of VIP as a slimeball so it was definitely effective.

ALEX REYN VS VIP: The match itself I really enjoyed, but I have to go against the grain here and say that the the commentary soured it for me. It felt like we had Reyn repeatedly showing us he was dangerous, then on top of that throughout the match people repeatedly telling us how dangerous and talented he is. It was just overkill for me and he ended up feeling forced. RIP VIP

VIRAL COMEDY 4: Scott did a great job here of escalating the feud and adding some much needed violence and brutality to it. Been a hell of a lot of fun working with him on this.

DRAMA AT THE FIT FACTORY 3: Great ending to the segment and it was absolutely the right move for me to split it up like this. Moved forward at a good pace and left us all wanting more.

PAYBACK: Really good stuff as per, Pierson is always really entertaining to read and this was no exception.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS + THE MASTER SISTERS VS THE RICH FAMILY MATCH: The tag division has always been a strong stand out in Global so this was great to see. The set up before the match was good and the match itself was tight and full of action, fun way to end it as well.

GLOBAL AWARDS: E Z was robbed from leading lady. Negative 2 stars.

CONCLUSION:

Much better show than 1 or 2 imo. Loads of strong parts all round. A few segments and matches could probably do with editing down or separating for me but if this is the quality we can expect moving forward then it’s very exciting. Well done all!

@Brian Angel was the one being cocky at the start and who changed her theme song on the fly, not Queen Bianca.
@Kyle you skipped the Performance Review segment. Curious to know your thoughts.

Oh, thank you for the clarity. I will go back and re-read it to ensure I understood everything. One thing about this style is I can get lost in the segments I am finding myself in since it's all written novel and sort of together. The Action/break style I am used to makes it easier to determine who is doing/saying what for me.

I will get there eventually!

Post by Keegan »

Think of this as the ‘free-for-all’ feedback because I will be giving my usual review of every segment and match later, trying to juggle a lot of things right now, but here we go.

Going into Domination 3, I had two main objectives, and one of them was made public in my previous feedback: Make this the best show. I’m delighted not only to draw that conclusion myself, but the feedback that has come in attests to that, so well done to everyone on making that happen. It knocked 1 and 2 out of the park, for sure.

The other goal was to see fewer complaints on placement, and I take full accountability for not making that happen. There was more editing and the like, but I listen to feedback, positive and negative alike, and will strive to improve on that. So, sorry from me again. I was personally disappointed in myself (and am.)

In spite of the show’s success, as I’ve been told, it weighed in at around 43-45,000 words. While we’ve had a lot of feedback for this show, much more so than 2 or at least it feels like it, that is a long show for many of you (others, I know it’s standard) and wasn’t part of my initial vision for GLOBAL, which I’ll expand on when I do a ‘Take 2’ of the podcast. I knew 3 would be lengthier than 2, and to a degree it worked given the reaction to the show, but I can’t in good faith expect everyone to give feedback on a 43,000-word card every fortnight. I get that, believe me.

Before I opened the league, I didn’t think we’d have this many handlers this early, and one idea was for each person to focus on someone else for feedback. So, let’s take Shae: He’d follow Scott and Kyle’s angle and give feedback on them every show for an arc. That way, in addition to my overall review of the show, each handler would be getting a different take from someone else, and you wouldn’t be obliged to read the full show.

However, when the fed started, and influenced by one or two conversations, I scrapped the idea (not initially mine, by the way) because I didn’t want to make it ‘feel like work.’ So, imagine my delight at seeing the in-depth stuff we’ve just received for 3 (thanks very much.)

Regarding cutting the show length down. Here are some thinking-out-loud suggestions/scenarios I’ve had or heard.

1. Word caps on all matches and segments: Admittedly, some receive this anyway, and that’s on me. I don’t go to everyone and place a strict word count on a match, per se, but if a person comes to me and asks, I always give an answer, as well as gauging their estimated word count too. It may not feel like it to some of you who don’t know me, but yes, I have ‘counted words’ for years. So, while I don’t want to put a word cap on segments as such, though I’m not totally against the idea, I’m happier to do that for matches or contact everyone writing a match and give them a limit.

2. Brand Split: Personally, I feel it’s WAY too early for this, but it is something Chris and I discussed in SCW, and an idea someone brought to me before the league opened. I would entertain it in the future.

3. Go weekly: I don’t want to do this either, though it would work well in tandem with 2. But, other than that, I’m not a fan and I believe many of you wouldn’t be either.

4. I stop handling as much/altogether: That wouldn’t be a problem. I’d be writing matches, and offer my own characters as NPCs, which is happening to an extent already.

Food for thought.

Some other things.

“All the segments that happened before the show should be at the start.”

Well, I’m happy to try that, but here’s why I’ve NOT done it that way.

1. Take the cliffhanger on Domination 2: Alex Reyn’s arrival works well anywhere on the show, or can be made to work. However, in my opinion, the best place for it was at the end of the show. Tell me I’m wrong, because it’s all down to opinions, and that’s mine.

2. I don’t want potentially 6, 8, 10 segments before the first match: Unlikely, but not beyond the realm either.

3. The timeline: TV shows and films do play around with this. The first season of Westworld, every episode of This is Us and plenty of flashbacks in many shows such as The Sopranos, Dexter and the like. Last night, I was watching Line of Duty Season 2. While largely linear, when the final episode is reaching its climax, we see ‘what really happened’ in the very first scene of the series. I’ll not even get into films! But I also appreciate this is wrestling. So…

We can try putting all the ‘pre-recorded stuff’ first on Show 4.

“A lot of handlers are talking about feds that I haven’t read or know nothing about.”

I agree. I had a discussion with someone about this BEFORE Show 1, whether it was a good idea to even reference past feds or not. Personally, I’m indifferent to it, as in it’s not a pet peeve. However, you can be a ‘household’ name in a circle, and I use that loosely, and not be known at all in a completely different one. Some (perhaps all) of you are already aware of this.
Ultimately, it’s your choice if you want to mention it, but be aware that this is feedback I’ve heard from several people and designed to help you get better.

Long term, I think such references will peter out for many of you because you’ll have established yourselves in GLOBAL. In the here and now, take it on board and try to focus on showing, not telling, I guess, who your character is as opposed to what they’ve done elsewhere.

Just over a thousand words of feedback before reviewing the actual show. Perhaps that’s part of my problem, but a nice one to have, and I’m grateful for all the participation on shows, in the chat and giving feedback.

Plenty to be proud of and positive about. I hope, like Show 1 did with line breaks, this opens up discussion because not all comments in this thread need to be confined to the show itself.

Thanks very much for reading that and for being here. I was somewhat low after Domination 2, though still proud of the participation and interaction, hence why my feedback was shorter, and I set that goal for 3. Mission accomplished in that regard.

However, feel free to chime in here. While GLOBAL may be my fed, it is YOURS too. So, any and all feedback is always welcome, just in case you didn’t know I was an advocate of leaving comments for your fellow handlers.
