I would say on the match announcements, over in DEFIANCE, we have the ring announcer declare the winners in bold so they're right there to see after the match. Maybe something like that here? That can still be done in novel style.
Good point.
@keegan - I will edit the show template to include this.
Just gonna chime in here as the main user and FIRM defender of the large spaces between pins.
To be perfectly honest, I hate when matches DON'T have them because it absolutely ruins tension.
It is completely impossible to clench for a false finish with "One! Two! Kickout!" because the second you see the "One", you've already seen the "Kickout!" the suspense is immediately ruined.
In a real match, the second between each pin builds anticipation. Will he kick out or won't he?
That's why I do the pins like I do and openly encourage the same.
It takes a second for your eyes to travel from one count to the next. The same time between an actual pinfall. Therefore the suspense isn't immediately blown.
As for line breaks btween paragraphs, I think it depends on the site.
On this forum for instance.
single space looks like
This.
It looks like it's all just one paragraph and makes for a wall of text.
So double space is necessary.
However, for some sites, single space ALREADY has a gap like that. So double spacing:
Looks like this.
Instead.
Which I agree is too much for normal paragraph breaks.
I tend to agree with Shae. When I write matches, of course, average counts may look like this -
ONE
TWO
KICK OUT -
Since the moment doesn't need to be dragged out, there are those moments that you want to hook the reader and make them believe for a moment that maybe that was the end. It can be over done and abused for sure, which takes away from the match.
Handle: "The Legend" Sean Darring & Prime Time Athletes
Of course, whether you take feedback on board or not is entirely optional... but the majority of feedback regarding that subject seems to be "just don't". Perhaps we limit the dots to certain amount, rather than 15? A happy medium?
I want to preface this by saying when I finally got round to reading all the show I enjoyed it. Some really good segments, some great matches and I think the overall connected theme is really starting to come together.
My main issue personally, as an outsider with little to no information on anyone else before global, was quite how intimidating this first show was. A lot of handlers are writing like we should already know exactly who they are, who the people they hang around with are, their backgrounds etc. Whilst I normally don’t mind this and I’m happy to go back and forth between the show and bios to figure out what’s going on, there’s a lot of character introductions all in one big show so at times was a bit difficult to wrap my head around.
I’m sure this will become better over time when I start to learn more about the rest of the roster and background players, and I appreciated that there was a show zero as a way of introducing Global in general.
