I started efeds when I was about 12 years old because I loved wrestling and really, really needed an excuse to avoid my dad. So when dial up Internet came around I found efeds.
Now I’m 36 and here I am!
Got me wondering, why did everyone get into efeds?
What keeps you around nowadays doing it?
Why efeds?
Re: Why efeds?
Started in 2001 when I should've been studying for my GCSEs. A couple of friends and I were bang into wrestling from 98 to 03, more or less, and one of them joined a fed in 2000 or early 01, and I later started myself under a certain person in this fed (Keith) with The Fighting Zone.
It combines two of my greatest passions in life, of course, and gives me that excuse to write to a deadline, rather than saying...this is the year I'll write a book.
Why am I doing it today? I wouldn't say I've achieved everything in the game, FAR FROM IT, but the only thing I wanted to come back to do was run a place, and here it is.
I hope you enjoy it, and when it closes at some time or another, I'll be through with the hobby. However, you never say never in this game, as most of us can attest to.

Re: Why efeds?
Sometime in 2010, I was on the That Guy With The Glasses forums (throwback right there) and posted a thread asking what everyone's wrestling gimmick would be. One person answered, and they pointed me to their efed. I liked what I saw and joined in August 2010, exactly a week from my 25th birthday, and a little over a month before (unexpectedly) moving to the UK. The rest is down to Stockholm syndrome, and chasing that elusive World title, of which I have held exactly two in a 12-year career.
I had officially retired after Mike Best ran me out of a fed I really enjoyed and respected, came back for Hop and SCW, then retired again as efedding proved to be one of the most toxic communities out there, and un-retired again for Keegan and GLOBAL. If GLOBAL ever goes away, then likely so will I - for good this time. Until then, I am having fun with what is essentially my ideal concept for a fed.

Re: Why efeds?
Just remember you asked....
In 1995, I was 20 years old and the internet was a relatively new thing in the world at large, especially the campus of the college I was attending. My best friend at the time, Darren Smelser, was already in the e-w world for a few months and thought it was a blast. Remember this was right as the Monday Night Wars and etc were just getting going and wrestling was on an upward trajectory in fandom. He talked me into joining an efed he was in at the time with his character "The Gorilla" and I stupidly created my e-w character with my own name and birthdate....
It was a simmed fed on TNM 6 at that time....and I had some success.
I have an addictive personality and if I truly enjoy something I throw myself into it whole hog.....one of the reasons I have avoided drinking, for instance, because I know that if I liked the taste I would want as much as possible.....anyway, I joined multiple leagues and even tried my hand in 1996-97 at running a fed as well.
I have always enjoyed wrestling, but the more I got into the game, the more I enjoyed living through the character and also delving into story ideas. in 1999 or so, not only had wrestling pulled the veil back and smartened up fans toa degree, but e-w began allowing people to actually know the handlers and interact with each other....this made storytelling even more fun.
I have been in and out of the game for 28 years. I have ran more than my share of feds and helped in many others. I have managed to hold 19 world titles and achieve rankings inn year end polls from large-scale groups of feds and forums...... But it has been a LONG time since I ran my name character legit in a fed. (Halkum's UTA was probably last real run I tried with him). I have ran RP (pure competition) feds and handled in them....I have also ran and handled in pure angled feds and some hybrid forms. I have been on podcasts and e-w radio shows many times and even tried my hand at one decades ago.
I love the creativity.
And like others....SCW was my last gasp of tryign to run a fed. I won't ever do that again. I'm here to help Keegan out where I can and tell some fun stories....so far I am enjoying myself.

Re: Why efeds?
My story in e-wrestling is way too long and boring, and I can't even remember most of it anymore. But I found the game in late 92 ... I Really got going in it in 1994. Back then, there were 25 feds opening up a day; it seemed it! I was a big pro wrestling fan growing up, and I met many good people over the years.
Even when my interest waned in pro wrestling, the collaboration with what have become lifelong friends kept me going (Chris is one of those I am so glad to have known for over 20 years).
I have handled a lot of characters. Ran a few well-known leagues (AWMC & PVW).
After SCW, I thought I had written my final flash, but glad Keegan sent me an invite.

Re: Why efeds?
I like writting and I've RPed in various forms over the years. I first found roleplaying on a Yugi-oh Card Maker forums, where they would roleplay characters in Yugioh worlds with their own made decks, but they would also have RPs of other stuff.
Eventually as I got more into RPing and more into wrestling as well, I found the world of e-fedding. This was probably around 2007 or 2008, I think. My english was quite broken at the time, and my characters just the horrible edgy heel, but actually people love them, and they are cool and they have a wolf inside them, but actually they are just bland and boring characters... So it actually took me a bit to even find an e-fed who'd want me in their ranks, even if as a jobber.
Over the years I would try a couple other characters, but my singles runs were vastly unsuccessful as I'd live in the lower ranks of the cards. In retrospect, even though I have a love for those characters I made, I understand why. Neither they or I were the best.
During a massive e-fed and wrestling break, I found myself creating Twilight Master and her family as part of various roleplays and stories. Having had a great grasp of Twilight and her sisters, when I found myself back into e-fedding I decided to try to roleplay three of Twilight's daughters. Characters I had written, and played, but that really weren't as fledged out as the "main family".
The Master Sisters, however, were a game changer to me. They were fun to write. Individually they weren't really the best, and they changed over the years, but together? I could write them talk and talk and I'd literally never get tired, and not only that, but for the first time in my life, people actually seem to enjoy what I wrote.
Gaining Pedro and Shawn's trust was also very important at this time, as they really helped me improve as a writer and as an e-fedder.
I first RPed them as a team back in 2014, and I swear it was as if I had found e-fedding for the very first time, to the point were I've always RPed as them since then, it's been almost 10 years and I know that once I retire these characters, I'll retire forever.
And I have, I have retired a couple times, life's been busy, I don't watch wrestling anymore, and with the channel there's already a MASSIVE time consuming hobby in my life.
But whenever I get the chance to come back, I look at the sisters and think... "Are you ready for another round?" and Aurora looks at me in the eye and tells me "Abso-fucking-lutely".
So, why do I e-fed? Because of the Master Sisters.

Re: Why efeds?

Seriously, thank you for the kind words - and I am the exact same with Jacqui M. Always the first to speak up whenever a new fed catches my fancy!
Also, I wonder whose fed they broke out at...
Re: Why efeds?
I first joined an efed when I was around 13, a friend got me into it and I'd never considered something like it before but always enjoyed creative writing and living out a fantasy (My first and main char is a namesake). After around 4 years the backstage politics, stupid arguments and bickering over something that ultimately shouldn't have too much of an impact on day to day life started to wear me down so I stopped. In the time between I did some more writing, self publishing stuff and script writing etc.
Then around May last year a random suggested page popped up on reddit and I thought it might be fun to give it another go. Without wanting to sound like too much of an asshole, it's the kind of thing that I can take or leave, and after Wrestleverse went down I was ready to call it a day already. But joining the Global discord and having some fun initial chats with the members made me want to hang around and give it another go. Since then the members have all been very welcoming and friendly, the storylines have been fun to follow and we have such a cool and diverse roster.
It's nice to have a creative hobby beside gaming and dadding as well.
