ANGEL 'THE KID' RAMIREZ

Name: Angelina (Angel) Ramirez

Height: 5ft7

Weight: 120lbs (when underfed)

Hometown: East Los Angeles, California

Alignment: Babyface

Style: Agility/High Flyer/Striker

Additional Description

Angel's style is mostly based on streetfighting tactics, namely involving a lot of dodging, quick counters and parkour-style evasions. She knows she is undersized and under-trained, and has no issues basing her style around that.

Finisher:
Fallin' Angel: Split-legged moonsault

Signature moves:
Angel's Flight: Flying crossbody

Moveset:
Springboard and slingshot EVERYTHING
Quick punches
Super(wo)man punch
Missile dropkick
Headbutt
Elbow strikes
Calf kicks
Shin kicks
Front kick
Low kick
Running boot
Russian leg sweep
Handspring back elbow
Running knee smash (single and double)
Knee/elbow/fist/leg drop off the ropes or the top
Various types of clotheslines
Double knee facebreaker
Arm drag
Shoulder tackle (she will do it even against much bigger and broader people)
Seated senton
Jumping facebuster
Baseball slide
Suicide plancha

Strengths:
Agility
Speed
Determination/heart
Survival instinct
Street smarts
Some basic combat/martial arts training

Weaknesses:
No formal training
Tendency to rush in blind
Tendency to make mistakes
Poor body condition as a result of her living circumstances
A penchant for junk food
Undersized against most opponents
Tires quickly as a result of her fast-paced style
Somewhat quick temper

Quirks/Eccentricities:
Sometimes tries stupid tactics despite knowing they will likely not work
Very vocal during fights, with taunts and other exclamations
A bit of a jokester during less 'involved' or personal matches – will pull faces, have comedic or sarcastic gestures (especially towards her partner) etc.

Dos and Don’ts when writing your character
DO have her run and bounce around all over the ring
DO have her rush into hopeless or stupid situations, especially when riled up
DO have her show inexperience
DO have her 'gas out' in longer matches
DO have her taunt, pull faces, play to the crowd and be vocal during matches
DO have her struggle against larger or more experienced opponents
DO have her employ the occasional 'grey hat' tactic when backed into a corner or otherwise absolutely necessary
DO have her exhibit pride (refusing to quit or tag out) past the point where it might be reasonable, getting her into trouble she need not have been in
DO NOT have her pull off excessively technical or flashy moves, with the exception of her finisher
DO NOT have her dominate matches, even against opponents her own size

Beliefs, Values and Desires:
She's just lookin' to get paid, fam. At least until it gets personal, ya feel me?

Backstory:
A street urchin from East LA, Angel Ramirez grew up running away from any number of foster homes, and into any number of orphanages and juvenile correctional facilities. Her luck changed, however, when she met a fellow rough sleeper, disgraced former soldier Saul Morgan, who, despite being twice her age, was not a complete creep, and with whom she found herself surprisingly clicking on a personal level – even if he CAN be something of a jerk. Together, the two set out to find gainful employment by any means – with a stint in a wrestling promotion being only the latest of their attempts at earning their next few meals. But with Angel only knowing as much about combat as her associate has taught her, this could be a particularly steep hill for 'The Kid' to climb, even WITH Saul by her side...

Appearance: Lanky, scruffy, flat-chested, long-legged, tomboyish. Long frizzy hair, olive/Hispanic complexion, green eyes, wide, childlike smile. Favours baggy 'comfort' clothes (hoodies, loose shirts, t-shirts, loose jeans, sneakers/trainers).

Entrance Theme:
Solo: 'So Ruff So Tuff in LA' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJ4r4kYkn8Q)
Team: 'The Angel and the Jerk' (Green Day and Penelope Huston)

Strenghts
Marine training – Being a former US Marine, Saul was put through their intense martial arts training, and has working knowledge of the techniques encompassed therein.
Survival Instincts – Living on the streets and scraping a living caused Saul to develop good preservation instincts. These obviously help inside the wrestling ring as well.
Brawling ability – Saul can hold his own in a brawl, also as a result of his street living and the scraps it inevitably leads to.
Resilience – Being a Marine, then homeless, has made Saul a tough customer. It takes some effort to put him down, and he can fight through levels of pain others would consider high.
Thick Skin – Sticks and stones may break Saul’s bones, but words will mostly not hurt him. Unless they happen to target specific aspects of his past (see below.)

Weaknesses
Shape – Bums don’t tend to be in the best conditioning, and Saul is no exception. While he looks decent from a physical standpoint, he does not eat or exercise as much as he should and this may affect his stamina.
Temper – Saul is mild-mannered and contemplative as a general rule, but his temper can flare up in the face of adversity, and this inevitably tends to affect him.
No formal training – While Saul did train martial arts in the Marines, he is not formally trained in wrestling, and may struggle against highly technical or experienced opponents who can smother his brawling style. Even his Marine training has worn off after years of abuse, and is nowhere near as crisp as it once was.
Inconsistent – As a result of dietary and morale-related oscillations, Saul is an inconsistent performer who tends to have as many ‘nights off’ as good showings.
Tortured – Saul is trying to atone for some things he has done in the past, and does not like to be reminded of them. Whenever they are brought up, it WILL emotionally affect him, sometimes to a damaging degree.

Quirks/Eccentricities:
Will often pull off a salute during his entrance.
Will have banter with Angel during matches.

Do's and Don'ts
DO have him be honourable.
DO have him defend American values.
DO have him protect Angel at his own personal risk, and become quite incensed when she is threatened.
DO have him have a fairly serious demeanour, but lighten up when Angel starts clowning.
DO have him predict and assess opponent's strategies accurately.
DO NOT have him use weapons unless sanctioned.
DO NOT have him cheat.
DO NOT have him fall for obvious traps.
DO NOT have him lose his cool unless himself or Angel are personally insulted.

Beliefs, Values and Desires:
Honorable guy, believes in doing the right thing, and is trying to atone for a somewhat spotty past.
Protective and paternal towards his tag partner, whom he will rush in to defend no matter the odds.

Backstory:
Saul Morgan is a former US Marine, found living in a Los Angeles homeless shelter by budding film-maker Caitlyn Caulfield. Caitlyn planned for her next feature-length documentary to focus on the homeless, and Saul was an irresistible main protagonist, leading to the two striking up an agreement and a working relationship.
When the opportunity to wrestle presented itself, Caitlyn decided to pull a few strings and use her connections to give her new acquaintance a way in. Thus did Saul go to Visionaries of Wrestling, where he expected nothing beyond some money to help him get by.
After that experience fell through, with the company folding only a couple of months into Saul's tenure there, 'The Tramp' once again took to the roads of Heartland America. His life changed, however, when, while passing through Los Angeles, his life collided with that of a spunky, energetic, smart-mouthed young street urchin. The two formed an unlikely bond and unspoken partnership, and set about looking for ways to earn their next few meals. When Saul heard a new wrestling promotion was hiring nearby, he quickly convinced his new associate to drop in for a job interview, and hopefully a trial. Now, The Angel and The Jerk are looking to go GLOBAL...

Appearance:
Scruffy, slim build due to under-nourishment, fair hair, grey eyes. Favours comfortable clothes (mostly standard-issue Army odds and ends with hoodies and running shoes).
