Thank you so much, everyone. Not just for this show, which I haven't done a word count on but I know is long with some of the matches, but the entire season. It hasn't been easy, and I apologise for that. I hope we're sitting here a year from now, reflecting on a better season. I'll do my feedback in a week, and will also record a podcast, ask for your votes for the End-of-Season Awards, and ask you to think about Season 2. Our next show is October 7th, but there'll be bigger breaks between Arc 1 and 2 to allow for Christmas, and potentially between Arc 2 and 3, as well as a bigger break between Seasons 2 and 3.
In the meantime: You know the drill.
As always, any and all feedback is welcome, but if you're short on time, here are some prompts:
Match of the night:
Segment of the night:
Feud of the night:
Line of the night:
Thanks very much in advance. Have a wonderful summer.
Anyone needs to get hold of me for the next week, email me at: theyardstick@msn.com
Be back on the 29th.

Re: GLORY
Match of the night: Sean Darring vs. Daniel Dream
Segment of the night: The Dream Is Over
Feud of the night: Sean Darring vs. Daniel Dream
Line of the night: "Naked Man’s nose regenerates, and he stands tall, illustrating how warm the warehouse is as his testicles hang low."
A Heartfelt Dedication: A nice promo by the Prime Time Athletes.
Whipped into Shape: Officer Wright's little squad is one of the most interesting groups in GLOBAL in my opinion.
Apartment 215: A very soap opera-style promo, I like it, it's unique.
Trouble Roxx vs Prime Time Athletes vs The Rich Family: A tightly contested match. I felt like anyone could win in this match at any moment from the first Rocketship Izzy to Jimmy Classic's roll up. Trouble Roxx retains.
Glory To The Board of Directors: A segment that I co-wrote so I won't give too many opinions on it but I will give my opinion on the part that Keegan wrote, it was great, as usual. A nice segment to build up Dream and further the subplot of Benedict's influence that has been running through the past few shows.
Past Our Prime...Time: A segment that builds up the feud between The Rich Family and Prime Time Athletes, an interesting feud to anticipate for next season, as both teams look to assert dominance in the tag team division.
Doritos Man vs Naked Man: "Naked Man’s nose regenerates, and he stands tall, illustrating how warm the warehouse is as his testicles hang low." is going to be the line of the night. I don't even need to consider other options.
the los angeles screwjob - i: Oooh, a screwjob storyline. I didn't know about this in advance and I'm taking these notes as I read the show so I'm just going to see how this goes.
Hold Hands and Sing Kumbaya: A disagreement about who will lead the match, developing the 'can they coexist' angle for the next match.
Best of British vs. 'Big Aug' August Lazar & Aleczander The Great:
Royston starts the match off playing mind games....Nigel immediately pays for that.
August Lazar seems to have the match completely under control but Aleczander tags himself in.
The Best of British almost immediately take back control of the match, using teamwork against Aleczander.
Hot tag to Aleczander The Great. The match ends off a nice running lariat-powerbomb combo! They could, indeed, coexist.
New Signing: Edmund Purcell. The Round Mound of Ground and Pound is a great nickname, no further notes.
Jerry David Vs. The Jester: Jerry David bloodies The Jester and The Jester falls back into the grave. [Insert some witty joke about The Jester being buried]. Doritos lurk in the shadows.
Never Too Old: "This might get interesting yet," I couldn't agree more. It seems Sean Darring is causing some to consider coming out of retirement.
Wrestletronic vs Xiang:
The rubber match between Wrestletronic and Xiang is switched at the last moment for Wrestletronic vs The Great Wall.
The Round Mound of Ground and Pound comes out!
The Great Wall with an emphatic win.
I'm excited to see Edmund Purcell vs The Great Wall next season.
8:00 AM: A nice short segment.
the los angeles screwjob - ii: Wow, so much pressure is on the main event that even Giovanni Ferrari seems terrified of what might happen.
Recruit Drive: I think Valorie Vitality might have the best heel turn in GLOBAL and it's also something I'm looking forward to in season two as well.
Angel Corps vs. Alex Reyn & Valorie Vitality: A brutal, bloody, personal match that was just amazing.
The Dream Is Over: I love Sean Darring’s promo.
The Cross Examination: A segment that I wrote so I won't give too many opinions on it except that I hoped it added to the main event.
Place Your Bets: Another nice promo by Sean Darring. The lead up to the match reminds me a bit of The Joker's scene in the museum of the original Batman movie.
…And then Benedict is tossing Dream Dollars to the crowd, yep. Definitely Joker vibes.
Sean Darring vs. Daniel Dream: An awesome, bloody match. Sean Darring being literally supported by the crowd, that’s what makes him a legend. This was just the perfect match with both competitors hitting everything they could, sometimes over and over it. I love how Daniel’s knee injury has been sold throughout the season. I like how Daniel was protected a bit, passing out rather than tapping to The Legend Lock. I think we have the match of the season, not just the match of the night, a match that served as a climax for the season as well as establish both competitors in GLOBAL lore.

Re: GLORY
THEME SONG: Got you excited. It was a solid modern-type theme song for a show. I didn't throw my headphones off like some of them in the past!
WELCOME TO GLORY: Solid run down to the show using the announcers. It sets the show's tone and reminds us of the steaks and stories in a summarized opening.
A HEARTFELT DEDICATION: I won't say much about my piece, but I continue the story with Rich Family and set up for the match to follow.
WHIPPED INTO SHAPE (II): More punishment for the GLOBAL Maggots! Dominatrix Miranda Wright continues to punish the scum of GLOBAL. I'm still trying to figure out where this is all going, but it's a fun little story still developing.
APARTMENT 215: Okay ... that took a turn—some assault on our favorite masked superstar. Curious to see where this goes. Thankfully, he wasn't beaten by Marines or hit by a Humvee! Let's hope X is alright and ready for Season 2. We missed his presence in the past few shows.
INTO GLORY RIDE: The Tag Champions out first and hype things up. Three-way tag action - I just remembered that I had to send my entrance in ... darn - it was supposed to play off my RP with the casted-up Freddie Rich. My bad.
TROUBLE ROXX VS THE PRIME TIME ATHLETES VS THE RICH FAMILY: Intense, non-stop action is what you want for an opening match. Trouble Roxx retains the titles with Rich Family and PTA, letting their focus on their hatred cause a missed opportunity for new tag team champions. Roxx had an active cycle defending the belts, and the RF and PTA have unfinished business before they move on to anything else—the right decision.
GLORY TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Some premature celebration with our least favorite puppet master - Benedict Beel Zebub, and the board.
PAST OUR PRIME...TIME?: Kudos to Keegan for this piece. It worked out great, adding intensity after the opening match.
DORITOS MAN VS NAKED MAN: The match we all wanted to read but not see... oh man ... what can you say about this match? Naked lunging bodies ... respawning on the beach nude once again ... Doritos, the hero we never knew we needed.
THE LOS ANGELES SCREW JOB - I: Ummm.. this title... With me in the Main Event, the title makes me nervous. Why wait a second... Don't break our hearts, G! I am convinced the board is all Tony Khan fans more than ever. Such a shame!
HOLD HANDS AND SING KUMBAYA: Alec and Big Aug are not on the same page. That is expected, but I still can't wait to see how they compete together!
BEST OF BRITISH VS BIG AUG & ALECZANDER THE GREAT: There is already some trouble as Big Aug and Alec need help figuring out who will start the match. It was such a fun match seeing these two try to coexist. They pick up the win but seem on different pages post-match. We need more of this tag team. Big Aug & Alec vs. Trouble Roxx next!
NEW SIGNING: Some much-needed new blood in Edmund Purcell. The bit did a great job setting the tone and introducing him to us without going overboard and overthinking it. He seems like a big deal in other arts and makes you feel he could become a big deal here. I am sure the board will like him just fine...
JERRY DAVID VS THE JESTER: This felt like one of those Cinematic matches... very well written, and when Jerry smashed Jester with the shovel, I thought of the scene in Stepbrothers. Jerry, you better be careful; the stapler of nipples is watching!
NEVER TOO OLD: Hopper and Hank shoot the shit, and the King of Cool teases us with a comeback... Chris Hopper vs. Daniel Dream will be one hell of a match! Yes, please, to Hopper returning if he isn't well - you tease!
WRESTLETRONIC VS XIANG: Whoa, this match was a lot of fun. The fun youngster in Wrestletronic was all over the place versus the Great Wall. And we had a near brawl with Punch Drunk Purcell and the Great Wall. Great storytelling there. Ultimately, The Great Wall wins, and much meat remains on the bone after this match. Post-match finishes setting up Great Wall and Purcell. That's how you do it!
8:00 AM: At first, I was like, Darren Best? That sun of a .... then it kept going, and I want to know who the suspect is. I bet it's Alf Alferson!
THE LOS ANGELES SCREWJOB - II: These titles aren't cool! "but he still doesn’t want a whack off the powerful 280-pound man sitting before him." No, he does not, and none of us want to see that either! I assume that was meant to say whack of -. Hank, I thought we were better friends, for shame! I didn't know anything about this angle or backstage segments, and I love them. Amazing stuff!
RECRUITMENT DRIVE: A video package on the Angel Corps - Reyn and Vitality story. It does a good job setting the tone; we only do a few of these - as I am not a massive fan of them as I need to know how well they transition to text, but in selected moments, they work fine. It worked fine here.
ANGEL CORPS VS ALEX REYN & VALORIE VITALITY: Okay, there are some fun spots in this match; the ending was fitting, but expected with how the story and match was going. I wanted to see Valorie choose humanity and punt Reyn in the balls, but she is the bride of Frankenstein instead.
THE DREAM IS OVER: Ahh, here is my RP... It's been so long since I wrote it, I didn't realize it was mine at first. Sell job for the match.
THE CROSS EXAMINATION: Draniel Dream speaks... Finally, some spine and his own man. We waited all cycle to see this Daniel Dream. It's nice of you to join us at the party, my friend finally. Better late than never!
PLACE YOUR BETS: Another montage, this time with the Dream and Darring story. There is some good content in here, I enjoyed it selfishly. Writing is challenging; as I mentioned earlier, they only sometimes translate text well. Whoever wrote this did a great job.
SEAN DARRING V DANIEL DREAM MAIN EVENT: This match took me a few days—a lot to unpack in this match, as there usually is with Shae’s PPV matches. Shae is a master at big moments and spots, and this match was different. There were a lot of big moments in the match, and the story of Dream’s perceived last shot at the belt was intertwined throughout the match. The story had been building for a long time for what appeared to be Dream - the chosen one finally overcoming all odds and winning the Global Championship. This is what I thought would be happening for the longest time. However, the segments earlier started to add some doubt to things. Would Giovanni stand up to the board? Would he let things shake out? Would Dream win on his own? What role was BBZ going to play? All these things played perfectly throughout the night.
In the end - much to maybe the dismay of the back, but the delight of the pretend fans the champion retains. And that sinking feeling of who will beat this guy starts to set in! Happened with the best in real life - Hogan, Flair, Roman currently, ect… There is that building with LSD’s reign, but the real focus at the end was Dream.
And, let me say that is where it should have been. Darring has had his moment after wins to celebrate. And this being the season cliffhanger - focusing on Dream and what now, we get a mystery man element. That was a great way to end the show and season.
I want to know where Dream goes from here. I want to know who this man is. I want to know what will happen to BBZ. I want to know the fallout from the board. I want to know who the next challenger for Darring will be. This outcome offered much into story and character development for all parties involved.
Marvelous to Shae for the storytelling in the match. Marvelous to Keegan for the booking. It's an excellent ending to a darn good show. I appreciate both of your efforts.
Highlights for me:
- The Main Event was just excellent. I already gushed enough about it, but it was a great match and an awesome way to end the season.
- The board segments. I never saw these coming, and it added an element of storytelling throughout the show. I hope we see more elements of storytelling like this in the future—such good stuff.
- Jeser-David Cinematic Ending - You expected that this wouldn’t be a traditional match or story. Scott is a superb writer; his storytelling ability adds the unique ability to go outside the normal pro wrestling elements of storytelling but stay relevant to the theme. I enjoyed it.
- The Purcell debut was handled really well. It felt like a throwback debut you would see in the 90s. He will be a great addition to the league.
- The X story was interesting. I missed him the past few shows, and this was another cliffhanger we will see play out next season.
- Matches and segments, in general, were all top-notch. This show delivered across the board. A lot of effort was placed in storytelling and match writing, and you could tell reading it.
- Oh, I can't forget the Hopper tease! You can't tease us like this old man; you better lace those boots up and join the fun!
Now that the season is over, there were mixed ups and downs, but that happens with every fed. We made it this far with a good core, which should be applauded. I always say that if a fed can make it past three “cycles,” then it is set for some long-term success. And here we are, ready for Season Two!
I appreciate Keegan, Scott, and Hopper creating and running this league. Fedheading never gets the respect it deserves for its overall time commitment. They deserve a big THANK YOU from us all for sacrificing all the hours it took to run this league.
Thank you, boys.
I appreciate the roster that stuck through things with us—the collaborating, matches, and storytelling. It’s been a joy, and I really enjoyed working with every one of you.
I look forward to seeing what creative stories you all write next season.

Re: GLORY
Well...through the highs and lows and exoduses and rows...we made it. And what a note to end on!
My reading of this was too scattered to go blow-by-blow, but I largely echo what Brian said - nearly every single segment and match was on point, and most importantly, had a PURPOSE and STAKES. Sure, most of the angles could have used a couple of extra weeks' build (especially Seth's storylines, but given the circumstances, it's understandable) but the storytelling during the matches more than made up for it, giving a fully satisfying end result, which was still, somehow, a breezy read (maybe I should start staggering my appraisal of shows more, or maybe we're just becoming less long-winded.) I am brimming with ideas coming out of this, and can't wait for season 2.
With that said...
...I do have a little nitpick, and that is that a couple of the matches on here did not really feel major-PPV worthy (again, sorry, Seth.) That did not detract from their effectiveness, but to be fair, this is a three-match show, four at the most. The rest feels a teensy bit like padding. Also, I know people dig it, but I felt the Doritos angle was pointless and never really fit the tone of the rest of the shows throughout the arc. We at least should have gotten Naked Man as a recurring roster member out of it (as happened with Jester) which is what I thought the endgame was. Oh well...different strokes for different folks, I guess. Overall, it wasn't anything that really made the show any worse for me, just nitpicks, really.
Match of the night: HOLY SHIT THAT MAIN EVENT. HOLY, HOLY, HOLY SHIT THAT MAIN EVENT!!! Shout-out to the FANTASTIC emotional Angel Corps match, too. It was my runaway MOTN until I read the greatest match in GLOBAL Wrestling history.
Segment of the night: This was such a solid show segment-wise that it's really hard to pick. The Crusader X-adjacent segments were really good, and so was everything involving Daniel Dream and the Board of Directors. The rest was high-watermark GLOBAL-level stuff, but those stood out.
Feud of the night: Angel Corps vs Reyn and Vitality and/or Dream vs Darring if we're only counting in-ring stuff. Giovanni vs BBZ and the rest of the Board if otherwise (by the way, GOOD FOR YOU, Powell. I never doubted you for a second.) Shout-out to the in-team feud between the Dirty Greats, as well.
Line of the night: Quinn finally electing to drop his corporate shill stance and going FULL MARKOUT during the Main Event.
PEDRO'S RATING: 8.5/10, best show of the arc and potentially the best GLOBAL PPV to date (currently tied with the first.)
ADDITIONAL APOLOGY: To Keegan and the Rich Family for completely overlooking the fact that I never did have Todd Rich tag in Declan during the Tag Title match. That's what you get when you're rushing to finish a match over multiple days with limited writing time :p
ADDITIONAL CONCERN: That we are Super-Cena'ing Darring a little too much. I mean, who can realistically beat a man who takes like a dozen powerbombs in a row and then still gets up and conclusively wins the match? Even our resident supernatural entity never accomplished THAT...

That did not detract from their effectiveness, but to be fair, this is a three-match show, four at the most.
Re: GLORY
WELCOME TO GLORY: While I won’t talk about the piece I did, I should’ve written a video package, and will do for this time next year. Truth be told, the words didn’t come, but I hope this served well as a start-off.
A HEARTFELT DEDICATION: A great title, given it was anything but, and much better than the shit I wrote later on. An excellent idea and execution by Brian in terms of keeping the TPA/TRF rivalry going not only for tonight, but beyond.
WHIPPED INTO SHAPE: A nice taste of what I know and expect Miranda Wright to be as a character, and the right title to boot in what was a boot camp. She’s got a project on her hands.
APARTMENT 215: A segment I didn’t expect to come in, so that was greatly appreciated in its own right, and a surprise in the context of what was written in that I’m not completely sure what’s going on, and I mean that in a good way. I like to be kept guessing – not always, but here, I’m more than fine with it.
INTO GLORY RIDE: Pedro wrote a stellar entrance, as ever. I wouldn’t expect anything less. I added the other two.
TAG TEAM TITLES: Pedro, no worries. I put this match as opener for many reasons, one being that Domination 1 started off with a multi-team tag team title match, and on top of that, Pedro has done a stellar job in making the opening slot his own with TR matches throughout this arc. Additionally, I tend to prefer the opener being the 2nd or 3rd most important match in terms of stakes, and given we have only 2 titles, it figures in the argument here, as well.
It can be tricky juggling 6 different wrestlers in a match, but all in all, Pedro did a great job and the match turned out well. I loved that Larkin got quite a bit of shine early doors. If there’s a Michaels and Jannetty vibe, it’s clear Classic is PTA’s HBK, but Larkin, like Marty for that matter, is excellent in his own right, and I enjoy writing him more in the ring than Classic, personally.
Some fantastic counters and high spots here, as well as commentary sprinkled in, both comedic and serious.
A fantastic, frantic pace towards the tail-end of the match, raising expectations that it could end at any moment, and yet pulling the rug out from underneath at the last minute. This is wonderfully done.
All in all, a really enjoyable affair.
GLORY TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: It was a pleasure co-writing with Hector, hammered out in quick fashion and I thought it turned out very, very well. Thanks once again, Hector.
PAST OUR PRIME…TIME? I didn’t do a great job here, and I apologise to Brian for that. He certainly writes The Rich Family better than I cover PTA, and it wasn’t a patch on ‘A Heartfelt Dedication.’ I also changed the placement last minute, because I felt it worked better to have it take place backstage, roughly at around the time they’d both be coming back, and so it serves as ‘live’ here rather than pre-recorded.
DORITOS MAN V NAKED MAN: The feud did outstay its welcome, but the blow-off was well-written, which I knew it would be, and praise to Scott for once again showcasing what CAN be done in GLOBAL if one or two of us broaden our horizons, hopefully in Season 2.
HOLD HANDS: A great segment by default, given who wrote it and the characters involved. It makes total sense there’d be some tension between these two big bastards, given their past feud here, and it hyped me up for their match next, which I thought was set up superbly on Domination.
DIRTY GREATS V BEST OF BRITISH: The Mark’s not daft, is he?
No matter how many times, I read Aug’s entrance, I enjoy it as in it legitimately makes me smile. The importance of a good ring walk cannot be underestimated, though I have a love-hate relationship with them, generally speaking, and that’s probably a topic for a podcast. Should there be more of those next season? We shall see. In the meantime, Alecz’s is also good, though Aug’s was the better of the two, here.
Great start to proceedings with the bickering between Aug and Aleczander, and Aug being Aug, slapping the shit out of Nigel.
Tag Team psychology 101 for the period of time Best of British is on top. Sound. And again, the second spell they’re in charge…all nicely executed.
While a different match to the opener, Seth and Pedro both showed the hallmarks of writing a cracking tag team match. There was never any doubt who would win this match, but a fun ride/read in them getting there.
NEW SIGNING: Seth told me about Purcell several days before deadline, and I really dig the concept, the character, name and everything. And given Seth’s enthusiasm for trying this guy out, well, that rubs off on me.
JERRY DAVID V THE JESTER: Like Scott’s previous match, in early, out there with the moon and the sun, well-written and brief. I’m excited to see Jerry David v Doritos Man down the line.
NEVER TOO OLD: This was brilliant. A lot of lines made me go…DAMN! Could they be paid off next season? Well, that’ll be discussed. But this was a nice, lovely addition to the show and a superb segment.
WRESTLETRONIC V XIANG: On one hand, I was disappointed when Seth gave me a heads-up here, but having said that, we’re going to get Purcell, who’s also great, and it may have led to this being one of the hard-to-predict matches.
I was surprised to see Xiang’s entrance serve as a bigger deal than Wrestletronic’s, admittedly. Anyway, a dick move on Xiang’s part, which doesn’t entirely shock me. Imagine preparing for Xiang and TGW is his last-minute replacement, though.
TGW v Purcell…what a prospect that could be. Meanwhile, TGW is doing a number on poor Wrestletronic here. Mind you, a great comeback by WT when the time comes. Filled with tempo and fire.
Alas, TGW meets fire with fire in some ways and ends up destroying Wrestletronic, which is a shame, though no shame in losing to TGW, of course. However, I respect that Seth has got more enthusiasm and ideas for Purcell, particularly as someone who has hundred of characters/toys on the shelf myself. It happens.
A good promo by Xiang, a response from PDP, and it’s on – or it would be if it weren’t for security. However, it serves as a fine example that not all stories must end at Glory – here’s one that’s starting here, and one I’m very much looking forward to.
8.00AM: Very intriguing, once again. A fantastic example of a segment I’d like to see more of in this fed, and like the previous Crusader X piece, I THINK I know where it’s going, but I’m not honestly 100% sure, and for me, that’s great.
RECRUITMENT DRIVE: A great job as a video package, recounting the feud and preparing us for what’s next.
REYN AND VITALITY V ANGEL CORPS: Good to see the proper time taken over the entrances.
A fast and ferocious start, fingerprints of the writer indeed all over the match from the start, and aided by a switch to Lucha rules, a request I knew was coming and granted.
I, for one, appreciate the one-counts. Plenty of hard-hitting stuff and switching from the off. All fine by me.
While we may’ve had too many tag matches tonight, in fairness, they’ve all be good, albeit wrapped in different paper. What I liked here was that Angel and Saul constantly worked well together, and Alex Reyn, who’s a cut above everyone in terms of his card placement, felt like that, too.
Whenever he came in, he was double-teamed or hit with something leftfield, Saul and Angel paying him respect by doing the crazy and mental just to keep him at bay.
However, the POTM for me was Angel, who I believe has major breakout potential, and I know Shae’s a fan of writing her in matches, and that also showed here.
The table spot was great.
Valorie was BRUTAL. I thought the finish was great, the result was right, but I expect variants of this match to take place later down the road, especially 1 v 1.
THE DREAM IS OVER: Hardly surprising to hear this, I’m sure, but it was another wonderful segment by Darring, albeit it what seemed to be a different approach for me. It felt like LSD played both wrestler and narrator here, and while he sold Daniel, there was an edge to it, too. Loved it.
THE CROSS EXAMINATION: And a great riposte. There’s a hunger, desire and determination by Dream, which I think should have been more present, but between this show and the last one, it feels like the focus is where it should be, and a great ramping-up ahead of the main event. Two terrific segments, and let’s make that three…
PLACE YOUR BETS: A brilliant job, done by Shae off his own back, and while Recruitment Drive was good, this was GREAT. It whetted the appetite perfectly.
MAIN EVENT: There was plenty to like about this, and some have already labelled it MOTS, which of course, it has a strong claim to. I’m not sure I’d give it top spot, but it is definitely in the discussion, IE: Top 3.
Shae did a fabulous job with entrances, fanfare and the commentary. I added some parts, and hopefully, they helped.
So pleased to see this boil down to a 1-on-1 match with very little shenanigans.
Darring isn’t – and doesn’t come across here – as a gullible face. Yes, we all know he’s likeable, but he was a heel once and is too smart, crafty and intelligent to fall for all of the heel tactics without issuing a receipt, so to speak. It’s an underrated feature of the character.
Even early, you see everything that typifies Dream. He’s a wonderful talent, an amazing athlete and just when you think what is there not to like, he spits in Darring’s face, showcasing that attitude. Later on, we see tremendous power from him, too. He’s one hell of an all-rounder and that is on display throughout.
Brilliant teasing of big moves, such as the American Revolution, only to be countered.
Not a fan of the line breaks in the pinfalls, however, that’s horses for courses. The sequence works, but that was well-done for me, and I mean virtually BURNT. A minor complaint in the grand scheme of things.
A wonderful run of moves follows. A hell of a near-fall with the Dream Catcher later on, which may make it look like I’ve skipped half of the match, but it is very easy to caught up in the action and story, which have been superbly blended.
Darring skinning the cat made me do a double take too, Mark. I guess that can fly in the season finale’s finale.
Double down was inserted at exactly the right time.
Shae, you did a great job of not taking people out of the match with the ref, which I set up with the LA Screwjob segments, and didn’t want even Hector or Brian to know about, because, well, surprise.
I personally cannot stand This is Awesome chants, but again, it appears apt here.
The match and finish were fabulous, Dream came out of it looking strong in defeat, and Darring, who I cannot agree is ‘Super Cena’ and more on that to come in overall thoughts, did, too.
I said out of the gate this would be in contention in my mind for MOTS, but 2 people in feedback have already proclaimed it that, so when I post the End-of-Season awards very shortly, I expect to see this win that category, and I have no qualms with that. What more could you ask from a season finale’s main event? Shae handled the ‘pressure’ of not only writing the longest and biggest match of the season incredibly well, but also writing the previous match and pulling double duty, effectively writing a third of this 42,000-word show, making this ‘The Shae Show’ in some ways, so a special congratulations and well done, my friend.
And that’s a wrap.
Overall Thoughts: To quote Gorilla Monsoon, as he seems more relevant than Shania Twain, we made it! Thank you to everyone for that happening, not just for contributing to GLORY, but also to GLOBAL throughout the 3 arcs and for sticking around.
I’m not always the mentally toughest nor the weakest, for that matter, but the small stubbornness I do have was always going to come out here. There were times when I wondered if this was worth it. However, after discussing it for so long, I had always said that I wouldn’t/couldn’t close GLOBAL without making it through the first season. I had help, so thanks very much once again to all of you.
As for this show, it feels a bit like the last couple of arcs, Arc 2 especially, in starting off slowly, and finishing strongly. I’ll leave it to Scott to add the obligatory joke.
Definitely readable at around 42,000 words – shorter than Domination 3 and 5, let alone the previous pay-per-views. However, quality over quantity and all that, and I feel it delivered in that regard.
Not sure I would call it the best show of the season. Again, I’d completely understand some proclaiming that and echo a lot of what Brian, Pedro and Hector said in their feedback.
On paper, and of course, I take my fair share of the blame, I felt the card could have looked better. However, what transpired defied my expectations and I’m delighted to say that.
Once again, I apologise for my absence at the start of this arc, which led to some issues, though I want to say a special thank you to Scott for looking after the place while I was gone. It wasn’t a leftfield holiday, and had been planned for months, what with my only nephew’s christening, but I tried to write 3 weeks’ worth of stuff at a time when my mind still wasn’t in it. Being away DEFINITELY helped me, and there wouldn’t be a Season 2 without it.
As a result, I didn’t pick up a match here, and that’s something I’m a bit embarrassed by.
From a selfish point of view, it was a shame that Crusader X and John Truth, strong contenders for MVPs in Arc 2 and 3 and generally seen as upper midcarders, did not wrestle on this show. I get why they didn’t.
Told Shae that I would rather have seen Reyn wrestle in a singles match, but the tag angle worked well throughout the arc and the match was good, so I get it. But, for me, missing Truth, Crusader X and having Reyn tied up in tag action hurt the matches surrounding the main event. It felt like a one-match show going in, and I don’t know if it didn’t feel like that coming out of the chute, despite everyone’s best efforts. That’s not meant as a knock, because there were stakes and the show, like I said, played out better than on paper because of all the match writers going above and beyond.
The same could be said for Aug and Aleczander, of course, but that’s a team I’m really looking forward to seeing, and all of the tag matches went well.
My original plan, BEFORE Domination 1, was to book Darring v Dream for the first show and during the first arc, come full circle. My first idea was whoever won the first one would then drop the belt to the other, and that hasn’t quite panned out and I have my reasons, but the main event did a tremendous job in making Dream look great in defeat and he still has a part to play, which means…
…Super Cena. Okay, I wasn’t watching the WWE regularly when John was on top, but from my understanding, it wasn’t just about him winning. It was the way he won, and as Shae has told me, what happened to his opponents after they were fed to him. Darring may be undefeated, but the character always ‘gives away’ a lot of offence to his opponents, in promos and in the ring, and I see him more like a Bret Hart/Face Ric Flair in the role as a champion, as opposed to someone like Cena or Hogan. And, Aleczander The Great still looked fine in defeat, a fantastic and underrated match written by Brian himself, and Dream, for my money, has always looked wonderful in defeat to Darring too. Each to their own, and I understand the unbeaten sentiment, but I don’t feel ‘Super Cena’ is the right comparison to make. Darring hasn’t destroyed his opponents in the way John did and, if it were the case, it would be down to me, because the biggest advocate of Darring losing the title is Brian. Which might also tell anyone why PTA haven’t won the Tag Team titles, yet. I possibly shouldn’t have said that, but there we go. I like to be honest when I can be.
If it's about him taking punishment and still continuing, mm. I mean, that's debatable. Don't forget the stakes are high, he's a wily veteran and certainly a tough nut to crack. I dare say Dream has pushed through the boundaries in showcasing his resilience as well.
There’s a lot to look forward to in Season 2. I got a bit carried away with the hype and gusto of people being added to Discord early doors, but this is more in line with what I originally envisioned for GLOBAL in terms of handler numbers. I’d rather have a smaller community where people know each other and get on than 100 people to be ‘the biggest e-fed on the net.’ There have been difficulties throughout this season for a whole host of reasons, I’ve made hundreds of mistakes and no doubt will make quite a lot next season, but I am hopeful that Season 2 goes better (convinced, really) than Season 1. Famous last words, and all that. Instead of talking about it, let’s just do it.
See you soon.
End of Season Awards and a Roster Review to come.
Thanks once again.
BEST MATCH: The main event, of course.
SEGMENT: As usual, tougher category this one. As far as promos goes, Darring’s, but I really liked the intrigue of Crusader X’s segments, plus Shae did a terrific job with the video packages, particularly for the main event.
FEUD: Darring/Dream in the last third of the show. I am also going to mention PTA/The Rich Family, though.

Re: GLORY
Scott: Thank you very much for stepping up as much as you have done, putting shows together, designing the layout for Domination and PPV, as well as looking after the place in my absence between June and July.
Chris: For being here as much as your time allows, which I know is far less than what it was, and producing memorable segments for Christian Pierson and FTK, who were both among the most entertaining acts in any arc this season.
Shae: Well done on the quality of matches you've written, which have been sparkling at times. Hopefully, you enjoy the reality of what we spoke about for 2 years.
Brian: Essentially for being Brian. Between SCW and now here, no one has matched Brian's consistency over 6 arcs when it comes to writing, and then he's well-organised, reads, gives feedback and is generally a great help/member of the community.
Pedro: Our workhorse of the year for sure, who has not only pumped out a massive volume of matches and segments, but been brilliant with Truth and Trouble Roxx, as well as providing regular feedback.
Hector: Full of great ideas, and the handler of one of the best characters here. Always provides feedback, and a pleasure to have on board, and I still expect massive things in Season 2 after a great first series in the main.
Blair: Wow, particularly in Arc 2. Crusader X is one of the most over characters in the fed, and I cannot wait to see what he does in Season 2.
Courtney: A very good first season overall, the talent is clearly there, and I can't wait to explore that potential in the next arc/season.
Thanks to all of you for being here, as well as anyone who passed through and has left. It was a pleasure, and greatly appreciated.

Re: GLORY
Match of the night: Main Event
Segment of the night: The Dream is Over
Feud of the night: Honestly, I don't think there have been any incredibly exciting feuds this arc. I think the main event was blown about half way through, and whilst Seth's main angle is starting to move, it isn't complete.
Line of the night: I always think "line of the night" should be a funny one, but I can't think of any right now. I've read this show in quite a few bits, so I probably just forgot.
