On a lighter note, the line of 'He ate Joe Public out' was not me being a filthy bugger, but more between writing 'ate him up and spat him out.' I KNOW no one will believe that, and I probably wouldn't either, but it's the John J...

Anyway, apologies for getting it wrong. One of the few times I get the Line of The Night, and it's a fuck-up.

Domination 7.....read and react and repeat....

Let's get it!

LESSON IN REALITY - I don't know if it is the fact that I am finally freed up to do this on 4/1/23 or not, but anything involving a gun just seems wrong to me with what has happened in the US this week. That is not Shae's fault as I know this came out before Nashville....but the entire piece beginning with a described disturbed man/fan and a gun with intent on doing harm to Sean Darring it seems. Not a fan of this segment, but again it could be more the happenstance of events in real life more than the segment itself. Overall, I felt that the introduction of someone weilding a gun was not necessary nor positive. I realize that we try for a television show approach rather than straight wrestling...but this wasn't a good crossing of those lines. E-wrestling usually endeavors to not have firearms involved...this was a big miss for me.

YOU'RE IN NEW YORK - Talk about a juxtaposition from segment to segment! I love these opening segments where we get a broad preview and some banter with our hosts. I also love the selling of Aleczander as the biggest ego in the world in th emost famous city in the world. Good stuff here.0

PROTECTING THE TRUTH - I truly enjoyed this. Truth being more than what we have seen him be in the past and knowing he needs some protection because of his views and etc. Here is the one, small issue I had...you show Lexi's face and let her have a full conversation without mentioning who she was. I knew who this would be the moment "tall brunette" was mentioned. However it seems that the "agents" are seen at the beginning and and Lexi is in full view also, which would ruin the great tag line reveal at the end of "needing Border Control." I would have kept the faces hidden, in the dark, or something until the moment she says that line....the reveal would have been stronger, but this is great to see. Now just don't let them get watered down because they are the 23rd tag team you are running (hyperbole, yes...but done for humor).

READY PLAYER ONE - This reminds me of the segments Cordson runs with questions and the star can answer or eat the nasty stuff in front of them. It is an interview wrapped inside a game stream. This is an interesting idea and I love Chameleon being involved because the character has always been game centered (even though it is obvious that he was written by someone who doesn't get his "voice" at all). The streaming idea has potential, I don't think it was used as well as it could be here, but I enjoy that multiple teams were involved here. Overall a solid segment.

WHAT IS NORMAL ANYWAY - So Best thinks that Alfie has been seduced by a cult, or so it seems. I liked this set up a ton. However I am not a fan of Amber someone and suddenly being the big, bad protector for Alfie. It just doesn't ring through to me overall, but it seems to be the storyline. Wrestlers in relationships being used in storylines is always dicey at best and I kind of wished the Alfie/Amber pairing had been kept to a trainer/trainee kind of thing instead of slipping into romantic undertones.

X/ALFIE VS AMBER/BEST - Crusader X is an interesting cat. I almost feel he is a puppet master to a degree with how he seems to be messing with Alfie at this point. This match has Alfie teamed with a guy obviously trying to undermine him to the core and they are going against one of (if not the best) friends Alfie has in this business in Darren Best and Alfie's love interest. Now here is the thing...the entire angle seems to be about Alfie, and yet I know Keegan would prefer not to have one of his guys be the center of such an angle. lol I would love to see Amber turn on Alfie in a big way and walk out of this on X's arm and let them play off each other....but I know it won't happen. The match action is solid and I loved the ending, really. It was a good way for it to end, but then the aftermath of "amber's strength diffusing the situation" made me laugh out loud.

GREEN TEA - Goodness...lol If all inside jokes start becomign adverts, then boy these will start being REALLY funny.

GLOBAL CHALLENGE - This disappointed me. Not the segment itself, but the fact I'm reading this after everything that has occurred and now we know the handler has left the league. The potential of these two is massive and the fact hey sell each other well here only makes it better. Brian and Seth are amazing at what they do and getting them together should have been a real game advancer for Global. This segment was great and I loved every moment of it.

OPEN CHALLENGE - No issue at all with this being right after the previous challenge title segment...why? One was backstage and one was in the ring for the fans to see. This is set as a TV show and fans are NOT privvy to the backstage stuff. SO no issue with that. Shockingly enough, this may be the first master Sister segment I enjoyed throughout. The tag team division needs some jolting (great numbers, butt a ton of water treading it seems) and this may be what gets thing in the right direction. Solid stuff here.

DO YOUR DUTY - I wrote this and decided I would have a lot of inside jokes on this show. This team is going to be fun.

SLIGHT DETOUR - A placeholder piece for Keegan to get his ducks where he wants them with these two. Even I'm not sure what part Hopper will play. lol

THE LAW VS ANGEL/JERK - I started this match worried. The Law are created to be intimidating, large, menacing, and etc. Matching them up against an undersized team that is technically headlined by teenage young lady scares me that suddenly we will see moments that don't make sense and would make me crawl. That being said...the roll up by Angel that the announcers even claimed Snider smiled as he counted was great. I love that the referee was allowed to show a reaction to events and that even HE thinks The Law are grade-A jerks. This match actually was better than I expected it to be as Angel used her agility to force missed strikes from the larger man and make them make mistakes to gain advantage. This was the best way to write the match and the fact the Law didn't lose either made sense. This was good. :)

RICH PROBLEM - I love these two. The slow burn of loving Freddie getting destroyed and the reaction of the Bro was....well...classic. (pun intended) Can we give these two the belts already?

CANCELLED PARTY PLANS - Ironically this is the first "placement issue" I have with this show....The Bro is the interviewer for both of these segments and unless it just happens that he is standing near where Aleczander is at right after being with PTA....there should have been a segment between these. This segment was great though...loved it. Aleczander is a perfect foil for Darring and a great heel for Global. This entire segment was great and had me sad that this character is not here much longer.

BATTLEPLANS - Truth is not just on the outside now, but intending to be a force on the inside. Good stuff.

THE C-WORD - The title was eye catching for sure and brilliant on whomever thought of that. This is another great back and forth between a pair of characters I enjoy (and I get to write their tourney match next show....so this really was fun for me). Great segment, as usual. :)

TRUTH VS THE GREAT WALL - This was interesting as it wasn't about the match, but what it is setting up. It is Truth vs the world, in a way and we get Border Control involved at the end after Principe showed up. It is an odd thing to see Principoe and The Great Wall seemingly on the same side in a scrap/battle in some way. One should remember there is a third member of Xiang dynasty (actually 2 more really) and Xiang himself does wrestle....so this coudl get interesting. I love that there is no decision here (though I do not like 2 of those on a single show....they were different enough for me) and now BC is involved, which can only be good if they are focused on.

DUDE - The Doritoes mantra. I actually enjoyed this one, it was connected to the here and now, in a way. Nice job

DUDE PATROL - DUDE IN MASK!!!! Hopper actually has history with DIM, so I have to have a segment at some point with them for fun. We are dudes! (again, I wish this had not been placed after another segment with the word dude in it. but it isn't a big deal really)

DRIVE - Action from the get go and perhaps one of the few times Global's standard of the announcer snot knowing what is happening backstage hurt a segment. I would have loved to hear the way they sold what was happening backstage and these two continue to have hatred spilling over to any moment they are in the same building! I personally believe Jerry David should now not be seen until the PPV.....he got run over for crying out loud....By Gawd he did it for the rock! oh wait. Great stuff guys, really

YEAR OF THE RABBIT - what in the strange blue yonder is this about?

BIANCA VS ALFERSON - I called how this would go the momnent I saw the header for this match. Alf Alferson is an enigma and Bianca wasn't allowed to actually compete because of The Jester. This is a bizarre angle, but interesting.

NAKED & AFRAID - The Naked Man....My Twitch stream gets a Global character, it would seem. But who is he trying to find?

CHANCE MEETING - Brian co wrote this with me and we fell right into our dynamic. Always good to co write with a vet like this. Never know where that could lead.

MALTA VS DECLAN - "Declan is wearing his heart on his sleeve" That may be true, but he didn't care enough about Freddie to not be partying in the Roxx's hotel room when he was having his arse handed to him, did he? I liked the action in this one and the announcer banter was great also. Malta is kind of a forgotten man in Global and that is perhaps because we have not heard one freaking peep out of him. I hate saying this, but if a character (who is supposed to hold a gatekeeper spot) can't cut a promo for a show, perhaps we drop him to NPC status or further. I know the handler can do something, so I'm actually disappointed Declan lost here.

STATE OF THE NATION - Why does EZ Rah get the decision? Jerry David is th eone left laying on the concrete after getting run down. I'm not sure if this was a mistake or what....but the match at the PPV will be good without a doubt.

TRUTH HURTS - I must admit Truth actually flipped and went from awkward side piece to a main dish this show. I enjoyed him thuroughly and the fact he is being paired with Border Control is even better. It really is a natural fit and my guess is anybody that is not to h is liking will be in deep trouble. I get really strong "Soldier Boy" vibes from Truth this show and if you are not familiar with "The Boys" show, you won't understand what I mean there.

RECYCLING - Big oil is not the problem...you are! I hate when there is some logic I can't see as pure farce. LOL Funny advert here

ALECZANDER VS MARX - Complete squash, as should be. What sells this is the promo afterward where the delusional winner states he is carrying Global. LOL Big deal here is that the challenge for the title is NOT happening on the PPV but at the NEXT FREAKING DOMINATION! This again is a tell because of IRL stuff, but it still sells like a sonofagun and I loved it.

MEDICAL UPDATE - I agree with Jerry. Nice update and that means something is fishy with Giovanni giving that stip to Rah.

COMATOSE CONVERSATION 2 - The saga continues. I know how this arc plays out, but arc 3 is a complete mess to me. No clue yet. But enjoying the crazy journey

ANOTHER CHALLENGE - The announcers take a moment to sell the title defense ont he next show. I really liked how this was made a special announcement. Makes it a big deal. Loved this.

DREAM/BIG AUG VS REYN/EZ - LOL "Daniel Dream in his Carnivore persona ate Joe Public out." I'm not sure that was intentional, but dang that was freaking funny to me. Match action was good, It really was a battle that sold the four remaining contenders in the tournament. I was not a fan of the ending at all. But not because of this match as I really feel this ending was best for all 4 men involved. I didn't like the ending because it was the thir dmatch ending in some form of no contest or double countout, etc. If you do an ending like this for the main event of a show, there should not be another "non finish" of any kind the rest of the show to sell it's weight for those involved. Other than that this was my match of the night overall.

=================
OVERALL THOUGHTS
=================

To me, this show's weakness was match results and the endings chosen. That is not the worst possible weakness to have, but to me it was the worst problem I saw.

I loved that many angles are moving into high gear

I liked the tournament semi finalists facing off and not in a way that allowed for any telegraphing how the matches next show will go.

EZ Rah vs David is a white hot angle. Loved this

John Truth became a top heel in Global this show. I hope he keeps it up!

Border Control! I'm so happy to see them, but in all honesty it felt like they were also rans and not given the bombastic debut they perhaps ought to have had.

I enjoyed Angel/Jerk vs The Law for what it was...I think they could have sold The Law beating them and showing their strength and it wouldn't have hurt the duo that lost.

My grade out of a 10 is a 6.5 or so. This was not a bad episode at all, but definitely a "middling" episode that advanced stuff toward the next big set of moments. That is fine and you need shows like that.

Keep it up everybody!

BEST MATCH: The Main Event- Everyone involved looked great and had a chance to show off something.
BEST SEGMENT: A LESSON IN REALITY- Dug this segment.
BEST ANGLE: Jd vs Rah
BEST LINE OF THE NIGHT:“I am Doritos. You are Doritos. We are Doritos.
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: Main thing is I feel this show didn't have the same punch as the last couple did, but sometimes that occurs hoping for the next being the go home; it has more of that, but overall a good read nonetheless.

Here's my review of Domination 07, with how disliked 08 was, hopefully this will serve as a pallete cleanser.

Timestamps for all segments will be provided below. I honestly wanted to give each segment it's individiual clip to make things easier for you all, unfortunately, while exporting a 40 minute video was just fine for my editing software, short, 1 minute clips from the SAME VIDEO caused it to crash.

Because, y'know. THAT MAKES ALL THE FUCKING SENSE IN THE WORLD.

Sorry, just a little bit absolutely livid with my editing program.

Incidentally, that same program wouldn't let me export as mp3 (Again, all the sense in the world). Which is why today's review is in video format (Really just audio with a picture)

BEST MATCH: Crusader/Button v Amber/Darren. (I always wondered how it would be should Amber and Alfie have a match against each other. It was one of those matches that I didn't care who won or lost, I was just interested in the dynamics, which I loved. Made me curious of what Crusader X has in mind, but it was also still heart warming to see that despite the match and its results, the closeness of Amber, Alfie, and Darren never changed.)

BEST SEGMENT: A Lesson In Reality (I'm a sucker for lore and backstory. Any hint of it and I'll be hooked. Good Work Shae. You got me invested even more into Reyn. Close second was Ready Player 1)

BEST ANGLE: Crusader X has some motives behind his actions and I'm HELLA curious and excited about them.

BEST LINE OF THE NIGHT: "Sounds like his workplace is in dire need of some Border Control" (A little ominous [which I like] and works perfectly with Truth's motives.👍🏾)

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: This is where I draw blank, mainly because I suck at giving critiques and what not.

I did like the show, and I heavily apologize for my review coming out SO late (real life has been kicking me while I'm down, leaving me with barely any time...). I look forward to Dom 8 and what it has in store too.
